WTF!?
It’s difficult to get my head around it. Do I panic, not panic, I mean how much toilet paper does one need?
The science is on it from all directions. Toronto Doctors have isolated the virus, TCM practitioners have been diagnosing and treating the pattern and NASA I am sure is tracking the movement across the globe.
What are we to do? One of the best things to remember is that we are all in this together. We are all affected. Knowing this is an act of love.
How does this help? These last few days have been overwhelming. It can be soothing to know your neighbour, friends and family are all suffering as you are.
Love in the form of compassion and care are fundamentally what will save us all.
Care for our health; the basics like hand washing and drinking water are key. So is eating as well, sleeping well and avoiding sugar. All of these help keep our immune system strong and ready for any virus that comes our way. Lets stay strong.
We are only as strong as our weakest link. Care also extends to our fellows. If you are having a hard time, reach out. If you know someone who was already struggling before this whole thing began definitely check in. The elderly, young and people with a challenged immune system are most at risk.
Reducing stress is a very powerful act of love right now. It’s going to be very easy to spiral down, canceling plans, line ups, someone coughing on the bus next to you, any of these things are stressful. Not to mention school closures, TTC changes and a city wide shut down.
Exercise compassion wherever you can. Toward yourself and anyone around you. We are all in this together. Maintaining calm is an act of love.
If you are suffering; fear, sickness, frustration extend the compassion to yourself. This is the most transforming act of Love.
When we look back on this time it will be how we have cared for ourselves, how we have cared for our communities and how they have cared for us that will be remembered.
